Christina's Labor of the Day

So not Labor Day exactly, but on this vacation weekend I only went in to work half a day on Sunday, and spent the rest of the afternoon crafting. I'm still working on the cabled sweater, but I was reminded lately of how fast sewing is compared to knitting. I was also inspired at the People's Market here in Missoula with this woman who is selling bags (intended to be diaper bags, I think) - my friend Jessica bought one, and I had her help me pick out fabric that would be fun to make one for myself on a Joann's run yesterday.

So, here is the tote I maybe don't really need, but really wanted to have. All materials are from Joann's - the brown inside is a suede and the ties are rawhide (I was going for a cowgirl feel, don't you know). The whole thing is maybe 12x14x5, and I adapted a pattern I bought offline ("Everyday Bag" designed by Leslie Gladman). Here is a side view, and also one that shows the inside pockets a little bit.
